REN CARES MINISTRIES
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:10
As Christ-followers, we are called to reach out and help people in need. Renaissance has been committed to doing this through various Ren Care Ministries since its inception. Amidst the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in 2012, opportunities arose that allowed us to organize our internal efforts, as well as add an external focus on community service. Renaissance is continually modifying the programs and services offered through Ren Care so that we can meet the evolving needs of Renaissance Church and of our local community. There are several opportunities to get involved with serving in one or more of the ministries within Ren Cares.
MINISTRIES AND TEAMS
Our pastors are available to provide spiritual counseling to the Renaissance community. If you are in need of spiritual, personal, pre-marital, marital, or bereavement counseling, please contact email@example.com.
This ministry is intended to support Renaissance individuals who are in the hospital or are shut-in. The Visitation Ministry Team works with and augments the pastors’ visitation ministry activities.
Life Events Ministry
This ministry supports events such as funerals, weddings, and births. The Life Event Team provides the non-counseling support involved with dedications, marriage and birth celebrations, weddings at church, and funerals. Activities could include sending birth or wedding congratulations, and coordinating with operations when funerals or weddings occur at the church facility.
Prayer is an integral part of our lives as followers of Jesus, but it’s not always easy. Sometimes we struggle to pray for ourselves, or we just want others to pray with us. Let our Prayer Team know and we will pray alongside you! If you have a prayer request for yourself or for someone you love, stop by renchurch.com and fill out our confidential prayer form. Your privacy is important to us, so there is an option to keep your request anonymous.
The mission of this team is to provide meals for Renaissance individuals and/or families that have a short term need for meals delivered to their home. This team also manages the online application, Meal Train, that facilitates the process of identifying needs and scheduling meals.
Service (Helping Hand)
The Service Team works alongside individuals in the Renaissance family that are in need beyond their current physical or financial capabilities (helping with a house move, painting, housekeeping chores, etc.). This team also coordinates participation in different community service projects. Needs that require financial assistance or special purchases are deferred to the Benevolence Team.
This behind-the-scenes program supports children from the five Summit elementary schools. Renaissance collects a variety of non-perishable foods and gift cards through the months of October and November. These items are distributed beginning in late October, mostly to the respective school nurses. The school nurses work with Fresh Start (Overlook Hospital) and social workers to identify hungry students and to monitor the program, which provides breakfast and/or snack food to the children or sends the food home with them. If the child lives too far from school and the parent(s) do not have a car, then we deliver food directly to the parent(s).
“Christmas For Kids” Toy Drive
Each year beginning in November, Renaissance partners with the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency to collect and distribute Christmas gifts and Bibles to local children (from birth to 21-years-old) in need. This event has been a blessing to many in the past, with close to 300 kids receiving gifts in 2016. Volunteers for this program facilitate the collecting and distribution of gifts received.
