How Do You Feel

Many of us grow up without much instruction on managing our emotions. Mismanaged fear, anger, shame, apathy, envy, and grief can make it difficult to receive God’s love and follow his path. This fall, we’ll learn to keep our heart “with all vigilance” (Proverbs 4:23). Join us for services on Sunday at 8:30, 10, or 11:30 am, September 8–October 20, for the message series How Do You Feel, Putting Your Heart in Jesus’ Hands.

How Do You Feel Q&A with Pastor Christian Andrews
Sunday, October 27, 4 pm, Auditorium
Join us for a question and answer session with Lead Pastor Christian Andrews as a wrap-up to the How Do You Feel message series. He’ll take questions and take a deeper look into feelings and how we can put our hearts in Jesus’ hands.

Intro – Week 1

Fear – Week 2
Fear is a natural feeling that we all experience. But we can manage this feeling by acknowledging it and allowing it to teach us something. When we face challenges, God’s presence can be a comfort to us. If we choose to trust him in times of uncertainty, God promises to accompany us through the darkness and light our path.

Anger
– Week 3
There are times when we shouldn’t get angry, but we do. There are other times when we need to be angrier than we are. What we need is to learn to tell the difference, and how to move forward faithfully when we feel angry.

Shame – Week 4
We can choose to learn from our mistakes, or we can be held captive by regret. Shame will only keep us from seeing our true identity, a child of God who is unconditionally accepted and loved. When we accept this truth, God can use us to free others from the bondage of guilt and shame.

Apathy – Week 5
Apathy is the lack of interest, enthusiasm, and concern that keeps us from being actively involved in God’s mission. Jesus has invited us to participate in building his kingdom with him. God wants us to be passionately engaged in the world. In this message, we’ll see some of the most common reasons we lose passion and discover how God awakens our hearts when we trust him.

Envy – Week 5
Envy separates us from others and ourselves, preventing us from following Jesus. In this way, envy is like a prison. Jesus came to set captives free. In this message, we will see how his word liberates us from the chains of envy.

Grief – Week 6
In this message, we will learn about grief: what it feels like, where it comes from, and how to respond to it. Observing one man whose losses are leading toward hopelessness, we will find a strategy for healthy response to grief. Join us to discover the pathway of hope that is open to all who are willing to trust God’s goodness.
